They are eight in number, the least being only a few years old, comparatively speaking. One of their best tricks is that where one lies on his back on a table, legs and feet erect, on which a ladder about 1ft. long is placed. Then the two youngest begin to climb the ladder, and on arriving at the top go through a wonderful performance, all the while resting and being balanced solely by the aid of the feet of the Japanese who is lying on the table.”
